October League Rules
7:30-9pm on Mondays
October 7, 14, 21, & 28
We are so excited for the October pickleball league starting in just a couple days. Thank you for signing up!Please do us a favor and read through these guidelines before the first week, so you know what to expect and so everyone is on the same page. You can always respond to our texts if you have any questions.
gameplay
This league will follow the standard rules set up by USA pickleball. You can review a summary of these rules here. All games will be self-officiated. Unsportsmanlike and dishonorable conduct will never be tolerated. All games will be played first to 11 points, win by 2.Please keep in mind some commonly overlooked rules: All lines are in, with the exception of the kitchen line. You may not hit the ball within the kitchen, the front area of the court, until the ball has bounced. When the ball is served, the receiving team must let it bounce before returning, and then the serving team must let it bounce before returning. You will need to provide your own paddle and pickleballs for play.
attendance
Your attendance is expected at each of week of the league. If you are unable to attend one of the weeks, please let us know via text message as far in advance as possible. Each Sunday you will receive a text to confirm your attendance for the following day. Please respond promptly to confirm your planned attendance so you can be assigned a court. Failing to show up without advance notice will result in disqualification from the league.Play will begin each week at 7:30pm. Please be timely out of respect to your fellow players. You may arrive to warm up as soon as 7:00pm.
structure
Each week you will be assigned a court with 3 other players. The 4 of you will warm up and play 3 games on your assigned court, one game with each partner pairing. In other
words, you will rotate through each of the other three players in your group, playing one game with each one as your partner. At the end of the night you will report back, via text message, how many of the 3 games you personally won. This will then be used to track your overall standing in the league as well as to place you on a new court the following week. After your group has finished your 3 games, you are welcome to continue to play, either with your assigned group or with others, until the facility closes at 9pm.
scoring
Each week your assigned court will determine the point value of each win. A win on court 1, our most beginner court, is worth 1 point, whereas a win on court 4, a more advanced court, is worth 4 points. Your court will be assigned based on your performance in the previous weeks. For the first week, your court will be assigned based on your self-selected experience level and randomly generated seeding. Overall standings will be updated weekly.
Location
All games will be held at the TCU Pickleball courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Upon arrival, you may proceed directly to the pickleball courts. You do not need to check in at the pro shop, as you will already be checked in. If you have never been to the TCU Pickleball courts before, you can follow the diagram below.
